Limited Entry Hunting (LEH) – 2017

Limited Entry Hunting (LEH)

The 2017 Fall LEH draw is open from 12:00 p.m. Wednesday April 12 to 11:59 p.m. Friday May 26

Hunting provides British Columbians an opportunity to get out into British Columbia’s world-renowned backcountry and enjoy the natur

The Province’s Limited Entry Hunting (LEH) system is now online. To apply for a draw, review the status of your application, or find draw results, sign in to the BC Hunting online service.

leh-regulations-synopsis-2017-2018-Silvercore

Limited Entry Hunting provides hunting opportunities created through a random draw. Participation in the draw is available to any resident of B.C. with a valid FWID and resident hunting credentials.

Limited Entry Hunting helps the Province achieve wildlife management objectives without resorting to such measures as shortening seasons or completely closing areas. LEH is only introduced where it has become necessary to limit the number of hunters, of animals that may be taken, or the harvest of a certain species or sub-species.

LEH draws are random. The previous year’s odds are published beside each hunt to give an indication of the likelihood of a successful application, but this is not a guarantee of success.

Successful applicants have their chances reduced in subsequent draws in order to improve the chances of those who have been unsuccessful.

CZ Shadow 2 – Silvercore Training

CZ Shadow 2 – Silvercore Training

In recent years, the SP-01 Shadow has taken the competition circuit by storm. In USPSA Production Division, CZ pistols are now used by twice as many top-level competitors than any other maker. Given that popularity, it was high time to up the ante.

Starting from scratch, CZUB engineers took the best features of the original Shadow and improved upon them. More than two years later, we’re seeing the fruits of their efforts. With a higher beavertail and undercut trigger guard, the shooter’s hand is able to be as close to the bore axis as possible. With a contoured slide, the majority of the reciprocating mass is also centered on the bore, equating to less muzzle flip. Increased weight at the dust cover/rail also helps keep the muzzle down.

The Shadow 2’s swappable mag release has an adjustable, extended button with three settings to allow shooters to set it in the spot most comfortable for them. Best of all, new trigger components give smooth DA and crisp, clean SA while drastically reducing trigger reset.

A hardy nitride finish coats the entire pistol, leaving it nearly impervious to corrosion. Thin blue aluminum grips have healthy checkering to match the fine front and backstrap checkering of the pistol itself. Sitting atop the slide are a set of target sights — fiber optic on front and a serrated, black HAJO rear (click adjustable for elevation, drift adjustable for windage)

Fraser Valley No Shoot Areas – April 2017

Fraser Valley No Shoot Areas – April 2017

B.C. fires back at reckless gun use in the Fraser Valley – April

https://news.gov.bc.ca/14706

The Province is restricting gun use areas of the Fraser Valley where indiscriminate shooting is damaging habitat and creating serious safety concerns, Simon Gibson, MLA for Abbotsford-Mission, announced today on behalf of Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Steve Thomson.

No_Shooting_Areas_April_2017_Silvercore

B.C. has updated the Wildlife Act regulation to create “no shooting” zones within 400 metres of select roads on non-municipal Crown land within the Fraser Valley Regional District. The changes apply to recreational shooting and target practice and will not affect licenced hunting and trapping, or impact First Nations’ traditional rights.

The Fraser Valley is a popular recreation area. However, the increase in recreational shooting is posing risks to public safety. In the past year, wildfire crews were forced to abandon fire suppression activities due to firearms activity and there have instances of unsafe shooting towards cabins and recreation sites. The change in regulation was requested by the Fraser Valley Regional District and local RCMP and is supported by the District of Mission, the City of Abbotsford, the Conservation Officer Service and numerous First Nations.

Gun users who ignore the restrictions face fines of up to $50 000 and six months in jail for a first offence, and as much as a $100,000 fine and a year in jail for subsequent convictions.

Quotes:

Simon Gibson, MLA for Abbotsford-Mission –

“I’m pleased I could advocate for this important issue on behalf of the Fraser Valley Regional District. These regulations will definitely make our rural communities safer, cleaner and just more pleasant to call home.”

Laurie Throness, MLA for Chilliwack-Hope –

“I want to thank the Fraser Valley Regional District, First Nations, and the RCMP for their work with the Province to implement these regulations that will help keep residents and outdoor enthusiasts safe.”

Marc Dalton, MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission –

“People come from all over the Lower Mainland to enjoy the Fraser Valley backcountry and these no shooting zones will help reduce safety risks for residents, hunters, and recreational shooters.”

Jason Lum, chair, Fraser Valley Regional District –

“It’s not unusual for homeowners to find bullet holes in their windows and cars, while hikers, campers, and boaters have reported near misses with target shooters. We look forward to working with the Province to ensure the continues to be a destination of choice for responsible outdoor enthusiasts, while cracking down on those who would choose to abuse and desecrate our wild places.”

Quick Facts:

• The federal Firearms Act regulates the acquisition, registration, licencing, storage and carrying of firearms in Canada.

• Local governments have the authority to regulate use of firearms within municipal boundaries.

• B.C.’s Firearm Act regulates safe firearm use and transportation in the province, while the Wildlife Act governs use of firearms while hunting.
